On the opening night of Salone, an extraordinary one-off theatrical dining event will take place in the windows of Spazio Pontaccio, with a Michelin-starred chef, limited-edition tableware, furniture and accessories, and 50 guests drawn from the international design stage.

Spazio Pontaccio is an international design boutique located in the Brera district in the heart of Milan, offering limited edition design masterpieces, edgy furniture creations and exclusive collaborations with designers such as Philippe Starck, Marcel Wanders and Oki Sato.   Founded in 2002, its distinctive offer of contemporary furniture and decorative accessories is personally curated by owners Alberto Pellini and Eleonora Negri who have chosen to celebrate their association with their friends in the design world in a highly original way. During Salone, the three windows of the showroom will showcase a dinner that will combine life and design in a special culinary encounter.

This unique dining event will take place on Tuesday 8th April, the first day of Milan’s design week and on the day when the Brera district organises all its activity, within the showroom windows and in full view of passersby.  The idea is to create a stage for a sensory experience combining amazing food with beautiful objects.

Dinner will be cooked in the showroom by one of Milan’s top chefs, Uruguayan-born Matias Perdomo, from the Pont de Ferr, famous for his revolutionary approach to food which has won him a coveted Michelin star.   Pont de Ferr has now become a bastion of Italian culinary experimentation and Perdomo’s signature dishes include caramelised red onions from Tropea filled with fresh goat’s cheese which resemble hand blown glass and a unique ‘Lego’ dessert.

Guests will be presented with Perdomo’s creations on plates designed by Federico Pepe and will use specially commissioned exquisite glasses created by designer Lee Broom, and gold cutlery designed by Alessandro Zambelli for Seletti.   All this can be viewed by the public through the windows of the showroom during the evening.  After the dinner, the dining table will be recreated, and remain on view for the rest of the week, showing the curated tableware and design accessories which will also be available to buy from a temporary ‘pop up’ shop within the showroom.

Owners Eleonora and Alberto say that “life and design must constantly interact and we wanted to take this opportunity to explore people’s relationships with their possessions, all in full view of the public.  After all, a beautiful plate is an important ingredient in any recipe and a well-designed chair is as much part of the dining experience as the food”.
