15/06/2011 – Progettata e realizzata dai designer di Kymo Eva Langhans e Thomas Follner, la collezione “The Mashup” si è recentemente aggiudicata il premio speciale per la sostenibilità assegnato dalla rivista tedesca per l’architettura AIT. Il premio rientra nell’ambito dell’AIT Innovation Award “Architecture and Building” di Hannover. Si tratta del secondo premio per THE MASHUP, dopo l’iF product design award 2011.
The Mashup di Kymo nascono dal riciclo di vecchi tappeti persiani, riassemblati secondo una sensibilità più moderna. Il principio è quello del patchwork.

Developed and designed by kymo creative director Eva Langhans and Thomas Follner, THE MASHUP Edition recently won the special prize for sustainability awarded by the prestigious architectural magazine AIT as part of the Innovationspreis Architektur und Boden. After the 'iF product design award 2011', this is the second high-profile prize for THE MASHUP, which sees Eva Langhans combining modernity and tradition in her own inimitably creative style.
"Sustainability is becoming increasingly important and was therefore the focus for 2011," says Petra
Stephan, AIT department head and chairwoman of the jury. "Old and not always pretty is turned into something new and aesthetically pleasing. An outstanding, easy-going approach, and the creative ideas are executed with sustainability in mind. Exemplary," reasoned the jury.
During the development process of THE MASHUP, handmade oriental carpets are processed by hand and refined in several time-consuming steps. No bleaches are used and the inks used are completely environmentally friendly. The entire production process also takes place in Germany.
