At CERSAIE 2014, the Italian DG Mosaic presents MONSTERA | The backlit pavilion, created in partnership with the renowned architects Setsu & Shinobu Ito.
DG Mosaic is a company operating in the field of new materials, aimed at freeing glass mosaics from the usual clichés through the application of state-of-the-art nanotechnology.
By working on the material's soft features - such as transparency, richness of colours, tactile and visual suggestions - the company is rising mosaics to a new standard in terms of expressive features and capabilities. To DG Mosaic, materials are the new media.
This is why the company values strategic partnerships with architects and designers who are also willing to experiment with materials and concepts. The MONSTERA pavilion at CERSAIE is the result of such a partnership with one of the world's most upbeat duo's in contemporary design.
Nowadays, designers are paying more and more
attention to the intangible aspects of materials, as they play a huge role in the overall quality and output of design projects. Companies like DG Mosaic have taken up the challenge, and their research laboratories are a think-thank for innovation, where new ideas and projects come to life. Building on this vision, DG Mosaic has invented TILLA®, its exclusive glass mosaic picotessera. Measuring only 1.5 x 1. 5 x 0.75 mm, TILLA® is smart, extremely durable, and very flexible in terms of application. With its superior thinness, TILLA® defeats the concept of gravity itself, and is the quintessence of the extremely small.
TILLA®
TILLA® is the exclusive picotessera [1.5 x 1.5 x 0.75 mm] created by DG Mosaic, constituted by 17 nanolayers of infinitesimal thickness. TILLA® is compact, refined, smart, and lightweight; it offers virtually unlimited durability, with high-performance uniformity and adhesion. Our innovative 28.8 x 28.8 cm flexible modules set the basis for an extensive range of applications on the most varied surfaces. With TILLA®, 1 m2 of mosaic weighs approximately 2.5 kg; this makes it the most lightweight glass mosaic component on the market, and caters for extra flexibility both in product handling and application.

READINESS OF USE
Being only a few millimetres thick, DG Mosaic's modules can be laid directly on existing surfaces, with no complex pre-laying operations nor construction work required. This helps with reducing costs, overall turnarounds, and confusion on the laying site.
HIGH DEFINITION
As a result of extensive research in product technology, each of our 28.8 x 28.8 cm modules can host over 10,000 glass mosaic tesserae.
